Why is the Klu Klux Klan still running?

How is their ociation not illegal? I know in Canada the Charter of Rights and Freedoms protects against hate propaganda over freedom of speech. Is there anything similar in a US legal doent? And couldn't the vast majority of the public simply vote against the presence of such a racist group in their nation. It seems so medieval. The same goes for Mormon communities throughout North America.
