Web messenger?

oki go on www.iloveim.com for instant web messenger and my display picture from when i had windows live messenger installed was still there and also let me change it and change my personal message but when im talking to my friends and contacts they say the cants see my display picture or personal message. how come? it should work if they give you the option of uploading a display picture right? am i doing something wrong. can someonne plz tell if im doing something wrong or if theres a web messenger that will show my display picture and personal message to all my contacts like with windows live messenger? thnx heaps
